Auditions for 2013-14 will be held May 20-24, 2013. Applications are now being accepted. Results will be mailed in early June.

The Fifty-fourth Annual Young Musicians Competition Grand Prize/Scholarship Auditions will be held on January 4 & 5, 2014. YMC Winners’ Luncheon will be held on February 18.

David Kwak, violin, placed second at the American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition 2013. David also took 1st Place in the International Concerto Competition, also sponsored by American Protege. As a result, David will now be performing twice in Carnegie Hall. His Carnegie Hall debut is scheduled for November 2013. Congratulations, David!

Youth Symphony Conductor, Keitaro Harada is one of six emerging conductors who will lead the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra at the 2013 Bruno Walter National Conductor Preview. The League of American Orchestra’s prestigious conducting showcase is scheduled for Wednesday, March 13. This industry event, which takes place every other year in partnership with a League member orchestra, brings highly talented rising conductors to the attention of American orchestra leaders. Benjamin Rous (Youth Symphony Conductor, 2009-2010) will also be showcased at the Preview.

PYS is excited to introduce our newest ensemble: Chamber Winds. This elite ensemble will be comprised of select members of Symphonette Orchestra’s wind/percussion sections, and select members of Symphonic Winds, based on conductor recommendation. These top players will experience playing wind/percussion literature at the highest level.
